Most of the home users purchase desktops or laptops with a Windows OS already pre-installed. This type of license is called OEM – Original Equipment Manufacture. The OEM license is mostly designed for home users because it is already pre-installed on a fully functional PC. This way you don’t have to worry about the installation or finding the drivers. Businesses can also use OEM but for them volume license are more appropriate. Why only Pre-installation?
One reason for which the OEM licenses have to be sold only pre-installed on a new PC is because it is related with the technical support part. What I mean is that the company/user that opens the OEM package and installs it, is the one that provides the technical support in case is needed and we all know there are times we need it. So if you are not sure you can provide yourself with the technical support, than you should think about the possibility to buy an OEM license and “let” others “worry” for any technical issue you might have. Microsoft is not obliged to offer you technical support for the OEM license BUT like every rule that is broken, this one is too. More >

Problem Steps Recorder it is a screen-capture tool that was introduced in Windows 7. It allows you to record the problems you’re having with you PC, step by step, simply by clicking the “Start record” and adding in comments as needed. A HTML-based file converts to a .ZIP folder, which you can easily pass it on to the help desk. The Zip folder contains a .mht file, once you open it (just double click) you will see the full description of what happened during recording including the screen shots with the problem. The program is accessible from the Control Panel under “Record steps to reproduce a problem” or run psr.exe from Explorer. This way you can save time calling Microsoft help desk and explaining the issue you have.
