Today Steve Jobs announced the new generation of iPhone on the Apple WWDC keynote.
We will review in short what are the main characteristics as presented.
First of all the design, in this area nothing new since it is the same device as the one presented on Gizmodo back in April, black glass and stainless steel rim using a micro SIM tray.
Hardware wise it has an Apple A4 chip inside just like the iPad, and it will come in sizes up to 32GB with 802.11n Wi-Fi wireless networking.
Battery life should be 40%  longer for talk time, 7 hours of 3G talk, 6 hours of 3G browsing, 10 hours of Wi-Fi browsing, 10 hours of video, 40 hours of music and 300 hours of standby.

What is amazing is the new display with 960×640 pixels and the Retina Display increasing the pixel density (retina display has 326 pixels per inch) , contrast ratio 800 to 1 on a 3.5 inch display.
It also has a new camera system with 5 megapixel at 5x digital zoom and LED flash adding 720p HD video recording at 30 frames per second. For this feature they created the iMovie application that will be available from the App store round 4 Euro.
Video chat will be available trough the feature called FaceTime between two iPhone 4 models using Wi-Fi only, it lets you chat in landscape or portrait mode.

The new iPhone will have a gyroscope built, tracking your movements with high precision, it is 3-axis meaning it is capable of detecting pith, roll and yaw. With the accelerometer you will have a six axis motion sensing.
The new iPhone will also have the new OS called iOS 4 introducing multitasking, folders, retina display integration, unified Mail inbox, iBooks for iPhone and much more. The update will be available from 21st June for the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G and iPod touch as well but on the 3G and iPod not all features will be supported.
