Connect your PS3 to your Mac
Mar 7th
An easy and convenient way to Stream from you Mac to the PS3 is MediaLink. It was developed by Nullriver and it cost 20$ for downloading it. You can of course download it for free and try it out but after 30 minutes is disconnected from the system and you have to reconnect it. The price is not high for the multitude of media you can stream and using it for the last 2 months I have never lost connection with the PS3. The supported formats are: MP3, AAC, WMA, WAV ; MPEG1, MPEG2, MPEG4, H.264, DIVX, XVID, AVI, WMV, ASF, MOV, MKV, FLV; JPEG, PNG, GIF, TIFF, BMP, RAW, PDF, PS, EPS, TGA.
It support your iTunes music, iPhoto, Aperture and what is a plus you can add any folder you want from the Mac. The software is constantly undergoing updates, getting better and better and offering more stability, more format support.
PS3 to be used by U.S. Air Force Army
Feb 12th
According to InformationWeek the Air Force is looking into expanding their supercomputer by purchasing 2200 PS3 consoles. They are using the PS3 cluster for high definition video processing. The USAF have purchased PS3 systems before, in 2008 and it seams they are satisfied with Sony’s Cell processor. Now if only Sony could make this Modern Warfare 2 issue (crashing) to disappear.

The functionality is limited right now for publishing your Trophies or the purchases you made in PS Store. For the update click here. Later on will probably offer more options, posting pictures and status updates, but we will have to wait for Sony to roll out the following updates.
Playing .mkv files on PS3 trough DLNA.
Jan 10th
DLNA type of connections is not supporting .mkv right now, at least not obligatory and in this way a lot of companies hide behind the DLNA “limitations” and simply don’t let some formats to go trough, or be recognised by their products. One of the file formats is the .mkv, in this case the problem mainly is because the audio file is DTS and this needs to be converted in AC3. One of the easiest solutions is to use mkv2vob, it is a software that will demux the files into x264/DTS streams, than convert the DTS to AC3 and remux them. This process takes up about 10-15 minutes for a 6GB movie, so I would say it is a good time for such a large file.
For streaming trough DLNA I’m using a Windows 7 PC and WMP12 as the Media Server. Once converted it works perfectly. When you first Download mkv2vob go to the configuration panel and make sure you check “Always Transcode DTS”, if you don’t check this the sound might not work properly or at all.
